 I love the way that this brash male cardinal seems to be flirting with the female rose-breasted grosbeak - she looks much smaller than she is due to her stance, which causes foreshortening - while her indifferent mate, on her left, stuffs his face.

Just realized how high my settings were for this shot. I was all set up for small skittish birds in flight, in a dark green feeder in shadow on a summer afternoon. So I am glad that I had the leeway these high settings gave me to play with in post.

An appealing image that contributes to the open challenge

What an interesting mix of colourful birds you have captured Susan. The bright red bird on the right is particularly engaging which is in contrast to the other two birds whose position and focus I feel is somewhat marring the end result to the detriment of that gorgeous bird. Thank you for your notes because this helps to see the image in the way you saw it but unfortunately your voters would not have had that same luxury…
