If I had known it would take so long to make this shot I may not have started. To get all the items to appear about the same size I had to separate them by almost 30 feet. Lucky I had one angle through the house that permitted the shot.

The saw and wrench were suspended by fishing line. 4 shots stacked each with focus on one item. Had to make sure the lights did not light any part of the house. Used 6 speedlights and some reflectors. Also lots of flags.

I think the lack of a size reference makes them look like toys.

Post was the easy part, clone out fishing line and mask layers in PS so only in-focus item shows.

Greetings from the Critique Club! I can see what you want to do with this shot, show a wide array of all types of tools, probably near and dear to your heart. Indeed, each tool on its own is well-lit and shows detail. But comp leaves much to be desired, though, it looks like the early stages of a catalogue shot for man-cave toys. This is a case of trying to jam too much into an image, and as a result every tool competes with all the others. Esp as three of the four have red on them, a strong signifier colour. Red needs to be used sparingly, as it immediately draws attention away from everything else. It would have worked to just focus on one tool and put all your skills to work on it.

Hope this helps, feel free to PM me

This caught my attention. It's a shame it was under-appreciated by the voters.
