 On our way home from good hunting trip and a quick stop for the last frame of the night.

Edit: Thanks for the wotes and comments. Yes the light is a car in the distance, first we were going to wait for him to pass by, but then he slowed down to see the aurora so it was a easy desicion to use him in the frame.

Iceland and Auroras are so in my bucket list. Glad I was able to see and feel from your photo. Stunning capture!

This is an amazing photograph! I don't have any idea of how to compete with something like this. Two years ago, your photo would have garnered a vote in at least the mid 7s...I can't believe it only scored a 6.8.

@tanguera: I think the weather is better in Finland, but where in Finland is a big factor as the aurora circle goes over part of Finlanda and Norway but covers all Iceland.
Planning, follow the aurora forecast, some luck and then simply go out and stay there. Last week I was out every night for some 4-8 hours, that paid off well.

Just returned from Finland where we got one viewing of the Aurora. Magnificent. Is it more consistent (weather/etc.) in Iceland? Or is luck just as much as anywhere else?
