Trying out the 50mm f/1.2L for landscape work; it has low (but non-zero) distortion making it great for straight lines, and what distortion remains is easy to correct in postprocessing. It also gets pretty sharp when stopped down to a reasonable aperture - although one thing to watch out for is that it never quite loses its tendency for purple fringing.

Editing: Distortion correction using lensfun. Cloning out sensor dust spots and distracting elements on the water. Curves to increase the general contrast while leaving the colours alone (for once). Wavelet decompose, and gaussian blur on the base layer in the flat areas of water and sky, as well as suppressing the largest detail scale in the water, and suppressing all but the largest detail scales to reduce noise in the sky. Resize, and three-level selective sharpen to bring out the details of the shore without haloing.

Hello from the critique club

An appealing image that meets the challenge

A very calm and tranquil scene that would soothe anyone in the room in which it was hanging. The blue of the sea is a nice contrast against that of the variegated sky. The composition is good with the sky very clearly emphasised. If Iím really pedantic, which is what Iím here for folks, there are a couple of minor issues. First their appears to be faint banding in the sky, most noticeable in the mid blues. And secondly the horizon has a very slight tilt to the left. They both have to be looked for very hard so they are not detrimental to the image.
