So.
I looked up Juxtapose, since I couldn't think of anything to shoot.
And the description really wasn't what I thought juxtapose was. It actually was much more of a broad description than I expected.
Some descriptions even made it sound like two subjects fighting for the attention. Others made it sound like two subjects that were in contrast with each other. Another said that the two objects could compliment each other to make a whole scene.
Well... of course it was last minute, but I had big ideas. Set up the inside world outside with a squirrel, and have a cat in the window.
In other words, I dragged a bedside lamp outside, put a flash in it. Dragged multiple strobes out. Soft box. etc.
Plugged it all in.
Noticed that the sky was getting darker and darker... was that a raindrop??
Dragged it all back in.
Later on, decided to skip the inside scene outside, and just brought the strobes back out. Maybe I could get a cat to stare at a squirrel.
Seriously?? I had the table right against the window. Do you think EITHER cat would even bother to notice a squirrel sitting right there?
I mean, really... They sit at the backdoor watching the birds and the squirrels. Couldn't they just do it now??
Nope.
I got one or two shots with them looking at the squirrel, but this actually was more silly.
I put a strobe outside to add some light on the squirrel, and a strobe inside to add some light on the cat. Then I had to do some creative editing to pull it all together.
I liked the idea of the traditional prey/predator, with the predator oblivious and the prey not particularly caring.
Thanks for the comments!
I was about 6 hours of trying, waiting, waiting, waiting. The squirrel really doesn't like change. |

Way to go, vawendy! Yeah, that's right. I've decided to call you vawendy. Is that ok, vawendy? It has a nice ring to it. vawendy vawendy vawendy vawendy vawendy. Sounds Hindu. ...oh, the photo - love it. You are tenacious at going after your ideas and it obviously pays off. I've missed seeing the squirrels outside my mind. You also seem to have a distinct color signature in most of your images. But that just might be the squirrels talking. |
