About the most interesting shot taken aboard a bay cruise with my visiting brother and his family.
I carry this cheap camera around because I can afford to lose it. It basically has no adjustments other than ISO and exposure compensation. Higher ISO results in faster shutter speeds. The twenty or so presets offer other fixed shutter and/or aperture settings designed to "ideally" capture something, but to carry around and refer to a "cheat sheet" is tedious. In its defense, 14 megapixels leaves me something to work with, image stabilization you can see is helpful, and 21x zoom is cool. Good focus requires good lighting. Learning to use the tool has been interesting. It does snapshots and flash pretty well.
Surprisingly, I added the noise with a robust amount of "Amount" on highlights in the Shadows/Highlights dialog in PS. Still not decided that sharpening was an addition or detraction, although the blur mask used by Shadows/Highlights does have a sharpening effect, somewhat like Unsharp Mask. Applied the correction to the Lightness channel in L*A*B.
