If you'd like to conjecture about what the chap on the bridge is doing, I'll tell you. He's throwing a mobile phone into the canal. It's Rochdale, after all.

[4am rant about the nature of photography removed - Hi Sid!]

So those editing steps. It's a slight crop; curves raising the blue in the shadows and the reds and greens in the highlights, and improving the saturation; then resize and sharpen.

By the way, you might not have seen many shots with this piece of glass - it's quite an interesting one.

Hello from the critique club

An appealing image that meets the challenge.

Well what can I say Eugene! Ok you admit it yourself its neither your best nor your worst but as an ex narrowboat dweller for fifteen years your image still manages to convey the concept of the cut which I miss very much so it resonates with me. Although there are too many blown highlights there is a very effective contrast happening here with the bright water leading you straight to the object of interest the man on the bridge. The composition is good though I might have been tempted to clone the aerial out in the background and, of course, its reflection. I like your tongue in cheek sense of humour, yet another mobile finds its fitting resting place! You’re absolutely right I’ve not seen this piece of glass before, you have a very eclectic collection of glass I am envious of.

I really appreciate your comments but I must admit I am rather sad I seem to be the only one here at present who appears to be commenting. The reason for that is because I really appreciate the value of critique, both giving and receiving, so I will continue to make the effort, especially as long as I know it is being appreciated. Thanks a lot Eugene, keep using that wonderful glass to keep those fascinating images coming.

Too much dark too much light, not enough detail.
