A visit from the critique club :)

Overall, I think you did good but that shutter speed killed your photo! Trying to get a good depth of field made your shutter only 1/10th of a second which is a very difficult shutter speed to hand hold, you should have definitely used a tripod.

The lighting is good, depth of field is good but focus could use a little of an improvement. It's definitely blurred by camera shake.

Definitely a cliche photo as well. Composition is quite good, I agree with Harz_Joerg that trying to go for the rule of 3rds would be pointless here, I like the way you have composed the photo, not straight on but a bit off to the right.

Beat yours but just barely! Great picture... My alternate was more like this with a lot more pink in it and a little softer coloring like yours. Great job!

Composition: Position is good but the flower seems to 'lean' slightly to the left.
Technical: Did you try reducing the DOF? Seems a little cluttered atm.
Overall impression: Nice pic well framed with a good border. 7

Lovely! The lighting is really delicate and flattering to this bloom. The detail on the interior of the flower is really appealing.

I like many things of this photo: the arrangement is clear with the flower on a green background made from the leafs; the composition with the flower in the center is also very got here (rule of third is not always the way to go); the frame is good too; the colors and light are very good too. What I do not like is the sharppness or focus: I realy don't get what happend to the image. Can't say that it is out of focus but somehow it looks like blurring, double exposure or so. Is it from the digital sharpening?

I like the composition of this shot, although it looks like you have a bit of camera shake in the shot perhaps. Not knowing your camera it's difficult to tell how good a job this is - some camera's make this shot easy, on others this would be an extremely good attempt. Good work.

The only problem that I can see with this picture is that the top edge of the flower petals, and the lower edge just do not seem to be crisp! Almost like they are out of focus! I like the contrasting shade of green from the leaves, which provides a nice backdrop! I think if those leaves were slightly out of focus, the flower would be a bit more pronounced! One more thing, I just do not like the border! I find it really distracting for this shot! jgillard6

The colors are magnificent. I think I would like to see the right-most leaf in full and it's cropped off. Focus is excellent

Oh that's nice. I'll be interested to see how mine rates to this one. :) I think I like yours a little more not sure. 7.
