 My photo-essay. Unfortunately, this one needs sound, so read on, and then click on the link.

Our game-drive vehicle had given us loads of problems, we could negotiate any incline with only luck and perseverance, as the coil of the engine was broken. That made us late, which put us right next to the 2 youngish male lion seven o'clock at night. They were marking the territory like nobody's business, as they were the intruders into an area where they were taking over.
We were about 10 m from them, so when the first roar came, we all found ourselves on the far side of the vehicle.

Been on a hiatus from the essays so I'm a little behind on commenting. I really enjoyed this experience you shared with us. I doubt I'll ever have a chance to see/hear this in person. What an amazing world we live in.

Video with audio is something I've wanted to try. Thanks for the inspiration!

Wow! What an experience! What an energy!

I can't believe that you were able to take pictures at all - it's so dark. I would have been terrified to the bones. And then you managed to get this shot? Awesome! Thanks for sharing this with us
