Challenge: Indecision (Advanced Editing II)
Camera: Canon PowerShot S410
Location: Voting Booth in La Jara, Colorado
Date: Nov 2, 2004
Aperture: F7.1
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/60
Galleries: Candid, Political
Date Uploaded: Nov 2, 2004

Editing: Crop, levels, contrast, lighten shadow by hand, resize, unsharp mask, sharpen some of the writing, save for web.

Took this while I was voting today. We still have a primative voting system where I live and have to color the little ovals in to vote. Felt kind of odd taking my little camera in the booth with me but no one seemed to mind or even notice that I was snapping pictures while voting.

This is the best of the ballot images I have seen. Everything is superbly focused and there is a strong composition.

The only observation is that this is a theme which is very dominant in the USA, however not every other county has the same level of interest and enthusiasm. (Although with less than 50% turn out in the polls it would suggest that a large number of your countrymen are not enthused…..)

Unfortunately my own countries elections fair no better in turn out.

How so many people got cameras into voting booths is beyond me. Props to you for having the guts and being among them. As for the picture, it's a very good idea. I think most people actually thought about it. You actually did it. Focus is okay, perspective is also okay. Maybe if you adjusted the contrast..Nice job though.

What would've been really good is eraser markings! :)

Challenge link: strong, but predictable.

Image critique: This is quite bland, uninteresting and not particularly well shot. It appears to be shot with flash or overhead lighting which has flattened it and gives it a snapshot look. Composition is OK.

Out of challenge interest: none.
