 Shot on Hopi land at Homolovi State Park just outside of Winslow Arizona. First clear night we had during our trip. This was the second to last shot of the night and it was about 1:30 am shot to the north east with Winslow to my back.

This was my first opportunity to take a Milky Way shot and it was great to get Mars, Saturn and Antares so prominent in the image. We also setup our small telescope and looked at the planets. It was so clear you could see the rings and the spot. Next time we will take the 11".

Homolovi is a great campground with full hookups, showers and tent camping. Highly recommended and with Winslow just down the way we stopped and took the obligatory yet cliche "Standing on the corner" shot. Was a fun trip.

The sky was very kind to you. Nice that you also got the planets.
I try to limit my night sky shots to about 60 sec with a wide and about 5 sec or less at 50mm or longer to help keep the stars from trailing.

It had been a long day of driving and it was late when I got my gear setup. Only had the time to get 3 shots at this POV. They are different exposure times so I will give that a shot and see what comes about.

As you say, a great location and view ... I like the exposure and colors (my camera can't do that long an exposure). Have you tried stacking shorter exposures to get a sharper image?
