I don't know what to point of the selective desaturation is. I can only guess maybe trying to add interest to a photograph where there really isn't any?

Not a big fan of desaturated images, the subject would have been better if she was facing towards you, however you probably had no control over that. The result is not a very interesting photo.

The color processing gives her skin a zombie tone.
