 Apparently a juvenile Wheel Bug, as far as I can tell. He was a pretty big Assassin Bug to begin with; would love to find him as an adult and get another picture.

Love the buggy eye contact :-)

Used the flash even though it was daylight to isolate him better, and had extension tubes on.

PP - converted from RAW, cropped, Nik CEP (tonal contrast on bug, darken/lighten center), Nik Define, cloned out a bazillion bits of sensor dust, resized, Topaz Detail.
