The lens weighs 1.1 kg and my tiny D3100 weighs 505 g. Total 1.6 kg. My tripod I had with me can support 1.5 kg (although this is optimistic), so I was struggling to find the balance between holding the lens steady and not breaking the tripod mount.
I took some buildings advertising photos for the company to use on their new web site. Unfortunately I don't own the Sigma 8-16mm lens I so badly want and I could only rent this Tamron which is only 15mm wide (22.5 on my camera). At least it was wide enough and fast enough for the indoor night photos. Anyway, I used HDR for all the photos to attempt to achieve some sort of visual impact for otherwise boring photos. I quite enjoyed this one and my outtake, but thought this was a bit more on the artistic side. Oh, and I absolutely loved photoing for a purpose for someone else and using that Tamron!
Outtake:
I shot at golden hour (more like golden 10 minutes) and generally shot -2 EV to +1 in 1 EV steps and combined everything in the wonderful Fusion.
I know it won't do well at all, but I like it and I like the purpose of it.
