...from Critique Club...

Hi Betty

FIRST IMPRESSION:
Wow, 'cool' shot...I thought it was a real bear...doh!

COMPOSITION:
Too centered and cropped IMO. I think that's why you didn't score higher. Because you cropped the 'block of ice' so tight, you lose the square, and therefore some marked you down for that. :(

TECHNICAL:
I tough one to get it perfect. I think you did a good job creating the illusion, but a bit more lighting would have helped. DOF is great, making the bubbles in focus and the bear slightly soft. :|

ARTISTIC:
Your artistic mind was brilliant on this shot. It's too bad that it 'bombed' because of the challenge. If the challenge had been something like 'wild life' this would have been a 10 all the way :)

OVERALL:
A great imaginative shot, well executed...but I can't see a square. ;)

Cheers and good luck in the future challenges.

cleverly done, this is a pic of a polar bear in an ice cube isn't it?

Don't know how you did this but I like it. Probably as clear as can be. Looks real. Well done. Wish you had cropped off the extra on the corners or left space all around, one way or the other. But still good.

This is very cool. It is also a very creative idea. Where did you take this photograph?? And the bear is so cute! Good job.

This is a really cool (LOL) shot. I'm not positive how much it meets the challenge but if I had this I would submit it too 'cause I'd want everyone to see it!! Good job.

That's one hell of a big Fox's Glacier Mint (which probably won't make any sense if you're not British).
The lighting on the fur is lovely. Could have done to be cropped inside the "ice cube" to lose the background in the corners, though that may have made the link to "square" too hard to see.

I can see it's a block of ice, but I think the square shape doesn't come out very well. A bit less cropping would have done it maybe.

This is a good idea, and you've done it well, but you forgot to make it square!

Wish I could see the whole block of ice. Love the idea. 6

Interesting. The coloring is nice, but the pic isn't square and doesn't have to do with squares.
