Originally taken for Bridge competition but selected Fort George entrance bridge instead. Local bridge was swept away which meant there was no route across the river - meaning some folks couldn't be buried as couldn't get coffin across. Local landlord rebuilt the bridge so that it be crossed even when river in full spate.
