These individuals are part way through a two hour wait to get into the Basilica. This was not the end of the line, merely a slight break between groups.
I'd taken several photos after the rain started, none of which were very satisfactory, then this group came into view holding an umbrella echoing the shape and color of the Basilica's dome, with the top of the fountain falling in between the two, with much the same shape, creating an interesting line for the eye to follow, which is what I thought made the shot.
