I knew this was dangerous to enter. It looks really neat on my computer at home, but ipads and monitors with even slightly different calibration - it's probably way too dark. Which is too bad. I printed and it's still really neat imho.

I also realize that while for me this was truly inspired by jjbeguin, it did not end being in his style. But since the challenge was 'inspired by' I felt it was okay to enter. I felt like jjbeguin's style often played around with darkness and realness with a bit of grit in there - and that is what I went for. This dark however, was definitely much darker than the striking dark/lights in jjbeguins images.

My first brown ribbon. Huh.

This is awesome on my home monitor in the evening. I cannot, however, see anything at all on my phone's screen, so there's probably a huge difference in how people could see this. It's a gorgeous photograph! I am so happy it printed well, too. Hopefully you have it hanging somewhere you see it often!

And that's why I called the challenge "inspired by". I'm glad you entered it the way you liked it best - how else would one explore the darkest impulses :-). Goes along with jj's drive, I believe.

And congrats on the nicely commented brownie! :-)

I really liked this, so to find it in last place is a surprise. I see the cat but then my monitor is calibrated, I guess a lot are not and have missed out on a great shot.

The perfect psychopomp to lead us through the cimmerian shade

I admire how far into darkness you've taken us

Uh-oh! I think the image is probably wonderful, but so many people's monitors are very different. Mine is calibrated with my professional lab, so it is a little darker than most... so all I see is black. When I looked and looked, I did see a faint outline of a cat but it really wasn't visible without straining to see it.

Like an Ad Reinhardt painting, this makes you wait and wait for the tonality to emerge. Now I see the cat in its shady element.

I had to go from one motor to another - a touch lighter would have helped a lot
I like it for what it could be
