I'm quite pleased with how this turned out. At first I was trying to capture a photo with the person (me) on the other side of the stream, but without my remote, and only a 10-second timer, I was not quite getting in place on time - but I was getting a lot of exercise! :)

So, I started down another path with trying to capture something interesting with me on the other side of the trees, this side of the stream, where just my head and shoulders were visible. Wasn't liking the results.

Then I noticed the shape of the tree trunks and thought I'd try to fill the space on the right by posing there. After the first take I knew it was I wanted. The nearly repeating pattern of tree trunk, legs and arm was a fun combination IMO. I'd looked thru jjbeguin's portfolio and noticed he wasn't afraid of framing thru a person if it worked.

The hardest part, in the end, was trying to match his post-processing touch. Couldn't quite get there, but was happy overall with the result nonetheless.

I hesitate myself...And trees rightfully worry about guys wearing lumberjack shirts

An interesting and curious image that has a great sense of force flowing from the positions of the man and the tree he's leaning against. He's almost a tree himself. I like the color tint. While I'm not fond of the picnic table, it does seem to function as a visual anchor. Much more to this than meets the eye.

Nicely seen repetition/imitation of forms.

and yet, every element is infused in its obstinacy

something odd is happening with the man's arm that takes too much of one's attention but the picture remains very interesting
