Concept: In captivity, a whale’s dorsal fin tends to droop. Similar thing for snowmen. Captive Snowmen tend to be round but Wild SnowMen are actually square.

This looks macro to me...nice job and great idea. The large dark features in forground distract me and I personally would have left them out but I still vote a 10.

what you doing hiding in the bushes? :-)

I feel like i am with the Alligator Hunter on a mission to find wild snow men. Great use of the weeds or whatever in the foreground. Also, congrats on getting your snow mostly white and not blown out or blue!

I'll give you an "A" for effort, cause I know it really took effort to make this one. I'm trying to figure out why you shot it through the tree limbs. This had to be done purposely. I personally would have cropped it off half way over from the right between those two trees and cut off the unfocused blue whatever. Still a great shot worth an 8

I really like the snowman, very creative.

All the other snowmen must laugh and call him names. A mutant!! Nice idea - lots of originality here!! I like how he's shot through the trees as if you had to hide from him. You know what? Your mark just went up!!!

Love it, but a tighter crop would of been better. jgillard7

Oh, the lengths we go to for DPC. A SQUARE Snowman?!? I love the colors and the composition but I feel the branches in the front are a distraction. Good lighting.

What a cute snowman. Good colors, light and focus.
I'm not sure the crop works 100% but the shot is _very_ nice.

This picture really made me smile when I saw it. I don’t think this one will do well but I think it really should do well. I think people will find the branches in the foreground to be “distracting and detracting” as well as the branches in the background. I think those people missed the point (or maybe I have). For me this picture gives the feeling of discovery. I feel as if I was on a long winter’s walk and came upon this scene. He’s alive so I have to stay hidden behind the branches, and I can’t get too close or I will frighten him away. I like the composition, and I also like that the snowman is not smack in the center of the frame. If I were to do anything to this picture it would be to make it a vertical picture cropping out some of the area on the right hand side. I put this one in my top ten for this week, and I hope you do well with it.

great snowman! i think the 'wild, photojournalism' shot through the brush detracts from the photo - the subject is already very cool . . .

That's one square dude! Nice shot... Cub

great subject, but too bad you couldn't take it's picture without the obstructions...

LOL, funny shot. I almost didn't know where "square" was but I see the little guy is three squares. 6 =)

i like the humour...i appreciate the way you got it to look big from the angle at which it is shot.
