Please accept a Most Under Appreciated IMHO (aka MUAIMHOs) AWARD as a small consolation for your wonderful efforts in the Art Of 2014 challenge.

This is a wonderful, cultural, piece of art. So much information, telling a wonderful story or summer in the country. Mother checks out the options, as the boys lose patience and just want some sweet relief from the heat. In the backgroud, the recliner where the shop attendant, one assumes it's "Bubba", goes to relax between the questions and requests for service from the customers. Wonderful detail and composition. |

Great image. Seems like it should be from another time. |

somehow this photo turns the establishment's name into a joke. This is like a postmodern Norman Rockwell. |

two thumbs = top four & hang on my wall anytime.
This is a very modern photograph, something like Martin Parr's work I think. The uncompromising presentation, unsoftened by the smallest sentiment, not eased by any kind of photographic convention or artifice, not animated by a defining or engaging view of any of the people, is all so perfect for this improbable subject. Bubba's small castle looks as out of place here, in what seems like a farmer's field, as it would on the surface of the moon. Bubba himself is represented only by a possible part-silhouette in the window and an empty lawn chair in the sun. A wonderful tribute to the tastelessness of popular taste in 100 fabulous flavors. It's deliciously awful and I love it. It's also excellent documentary photography, in a definitely-not-Dorothea-Lange kind of way. Thank you. |

Where I'm from, this is called, "shave" ice, but the attraction is the same. I like the mid-60s sense of Americana captured in this image. 7 |
