This image was made by shining two tiny flashlights through drinking glasses (off camera) to make the rays of light, and holding a third tiny flashlight just inside the ring. The latter was turned off within a second of clicking the shutter. With the shutter speed I used, my hand and the flashlight casing did not show in the final image, but the brighter white light inside the ring did show, allowing me to light only the inside of the ring.
