Was peeling this for breakfast and when it came (almost) off in one piece I realized that breakfast needed to wait.

Natural light from my office window to the right and a table lamp to the far left. Nothing else but a tripod and a piece of glass for the table.

I can understand your disappointment (I had my own in this challenge as well), I thought this would score much higher as well. Very nice clarity and lighting.

Thanks, Jon. Yeah, I don't agree with the need for more DoF either - there's plenty there. I have to be honest and say I'm quite disappointed with the way this scored and I suspect that it suffered at the hand of the auto-resizing on verticals as much of the detail was lost at voting size. The crop is rather tight, but that's the way it was straight out of camera. I have a personal version with more room added right and left and I suspect that the added space might have helped it somewhat, but it would have violated the editing rules. Perhaps I should have added a black frame that was wider at the sides - people wouldn't have noticed it wasn't part of the shot. LOL

Clarity, composition are spot-on. Vibrant color and the abstract impression is quite engaging. I like this a lot. Good luck.

it is alive. I love the angle and the reflection. Needs a wider DOF to everything in focus.
