I love this. When I saw the thumbnail, I wondered "how can you shoot a road sign in space, or at least from an aircraft?". Yes, the roadsign suffers from this acute angle of view, but the creativity is in using the road sign as a challenge-validating excuse to show that fabulous sky. This pic is now one of my faves.

Critique Club:

Composition: Very good. I love the way the angle makes the street light's height exagerated and pulls in the sky by the effect. Loved the way you used the contrasting angles of the sign post and lay of the clouds along with the title to make an otherwise ordinary photo of a street sign very entertaining. I like the color scheme which helps bring out the colored reflection on the sign. The light above does not bother me, as it did some in the other comments below. Actually, the image at the bottom of the speed sign bothers me slightly and wondered how this would be with that cropped out for your final submission. Even though the sky is technically not "negative space", it is in a sense and ads to the focus on the sign.

Creativity: Excellent due to the unusual angle and use of the angle of the clouds and somewhat humorous title.

Technical Quality: Very good, see no obvious flaws in clarity, dof, or post processing issues.

Overall: Really liked this shot and thought your creativity and capture of the "moment" were really great.

Hope you find this helpful.

That is one crazy angle. I love it. Makes me think that the sign is in space, and that is the earth below. jgillard10

I like the sky but I think the shot is not taken at a flattering angle to the sign.

Nice shot. Has the same feel as last year's winner. did you try cropping out the light from the picture, seems to pull my eyes away from the sign. Good job and good luck. Jacko.

wonderful perspective, like the reflection of the sky in the sign, and a great sky at that.

Certainly an artistic view of a streetlight and sign. Focus looks fine to me, composition is good, and the clouds are interesting.

Strange angle. Camera appears to be tilted, which makes it akward to look at. Focus and cropping good, but too odd of an angle for me personally. It's a 5.

Thi is a very dynamic shot! The angle is superb and leads me all the way up the light. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the light being over-shadowed. Your sky is great! 8

its great how the clouds and sky reflect off the sign, but i feel the sign was pictured at perhaps too sharp of an angle. that said, excellent shot.

Interesting. Like the sky. The angle makes me feel slightly dizzy though :-)

I think the angle is a bit too acute to see the sign properly. I can see the idea of tring to catch the reflections of the sky though.
