I love this park. It's right along the river in town, and it's like a trip to the woods anytime I need a handy place to refresh my connection to the real Earth. It always smells good there too, the "comfort scents" that I remember from my younger days of tent camping in the Everglades are there.

This is dedicated to my lifelong friend John Charlton who sailed or flew to Byzantium today at age 94.
He was a bomber pilot in WWII, until he flew all the missions that they would allow him to. He then returned to the States to train pilots to fly B26's. After the war, he was a commercial air liner pilot and instructor until he retired.
My son Robert was one of the last couple of pilots that he taught to fly at his private air strip, about four years ago.
