Yes, jgirl57, it looks exactly like a caterpillar. Just don't pick this one up with your bare hands - the Hickory Tussock has some sort of poison on its barbs that can cause anything from a mild irritation to a pretty severe rash depending on the person. Here's what it looked like before cropping. I couldn't get much closer without narrowing the DoF too much.
Would have loved to get rid of the little bit of leaf, but worried about DQ'ing if I had. That, and I didn't want to run my finger across it.

(Already voted) I actually had to bump up the vote on this..
Looks like a Caterpillar almost to me! I love the abstract here and the bright white against the blacks. Just very neat!
Can not comment about the macro part of things, don't know anything about macro LOL |
