This was pretty much my first idea for this challenge. I didn't think I could pull it off so I was trying some other ideas without much luck.

The more I thought about it, the more I figured I could make this idea happen if I used a ladder and a wide angle lens. The tough part would be my model (which kid could pull this off without looking too set-up and while maintaining some innocence and cuteness!).

Anyway, we headed to a park we often go to that has high elevation so I figured the kite flying would at least involve a little wind. NOPE! THere was an event there so we travelled elsewhere. This was a good location because it was heavily shaded with trees and was still light enough to expose the image.

Essentially, I stood on the ladder with the kite and bossed my kid around as much as she could handle. I actaully gave up on my 5-year-old and used my 2-year old for most of the shots. Upon reviewing them, however, this shot of my 5-year-old was the most realistic -- I think I may have actually been holding the kite in this one! =)

I am not a huge fan of selective desat - but it seems to work for this image in muted way and me team seeed to like it! =)
