This photo was taken in the bathroom of my home. I was studied splash photography on the web and tried it.

First I set up a black background using an piece of black fabric attached to the wall with tape.
Then I put a 700 nikon flash at the bottom left of the image about 4 feet away so it will light the "face part" of the apple.

Then make the face of the apple using whatever is on hand and after made the face I used black thread to wall hanging the apple.

I used the 70-200 nikon lenses at 105mm, 1/250 and F5.0

Use a remote trigger in my right hand and in the left hand a glass of water which i used to do the "wave"

Greetings from the Critique Club!

This is a fun shot and I like to play with studio splash stuff too sometimes, and make my own props, so this resonated favourably with me. Usually I have a helluva mess to clean up afterwards but that's part of the fun! Exposure is well done, blackfield is always fun to play with and your settings are pretty much bang on.

There's no doubt that it's a liquid in motion, so it meets the challenge, but I think it's the odd appley little surfer that threw a lot of people off, possibly the oof spray of water on the left top too. Unless a figure is indisputedly 'there' in the shot, and easy to see as a surfer, it's a hard sell. May I suggest looking at some of Ecce_Signum's work, though his shots tend to be much more controlled, you can indeed see figures in the water.

Hope this slightly late critique helps draw you back into the DPC fold!
