Challenge: Defining Feature (Advanced Editing II)
Camera: Canon PowerShot G5
Location: The bathroom, yet again
Date: Oct 10, 2004
Aperture: F/2.8
ISO: 50
Shutter: 1/10 sec
Galleries: Portraiture, Studio
Date Uploaded: Oct 10, 2004

This is one picture that actually turned out almost exactly how I wanted it to, which is amazing given the circumstances and the amount of time I allowed myself. I got this done an hour and a fifteen minutes before the end of the challenge, and I'm very happy with it. I know the defining feature I chose will be used by a lot of people, but I just love those gorgeous blue eyes.

Editing: Resized, adjustment layers, curves, levels, hue/saturation, dodging and burning, spot editing, and a very very small amount of NI.

Just a note... the idea wasn't to make him look innocent, so there's no way he was faking it. Actually, I was originally going to have him look a bit grouchy and do an attitude one, which is the face he was trying to make, but he just ended up looking rather cute and innocent to me. (I was going to do attitude because I woke him up from napping to model for me before the challenge ended... enough said. :))

Funny look. Interesting subject, but it looks like you've cut his left arm off. Eyes have no catchlights to give him some spark and life and I think the lighting is a bit too harsh. If you're going to go with a high-key brightness and just black and white as the colors, I would hope that you would get more detail and better color in the skin. It appears a littel too blanched to me.

The angle of the shot really conveys your message. Good job.
