Soy milk being poured into a shot of espresso in a glass. I used a high ISO (400) so I could get shallow DOF while still using a relatively fast shutter speed, but I had to use neatimage to remove some grain. Lots of processing of the levels and saturation, and sharpening. Also, I scaled it along its width to make the glass seem taller and thinner.

Thanks for the critique Alecia. None of the comments touched on the idea that this was taken outside, on a sunny day. I really was trying for that feeling, like sitting at an outdoor table at a cafe. I'm glad you picked that up!

hehe, i figured this was yours lisa! first of all, the lighting and clarity/ color depth of the pic are wonderful. i feel like i am looking at an ad in a sort of holistic magazine! the background is what does it, i think--it gives me a very soothing, nature-friendly sort of impression that fits with the soy milk theme. i think the lighting also helps this--you feel like are outside on a beautiful sunny day... who knows, maybe you are! i can see the sun glinting off of the leaves in the background--very beautiful effect.
technically--I find it interesting that you used an iso of 400---i would have never guessed that! neat image is a very cool thing--i especially like its effect on glass. also, the dof is perfect.
i have been looking at trying to see if there is something, anything i might do differently, and the only thing i can think of is perhaps the angle--maybe come in a little closer to narrow in on the glass more and angle up slightly to catch a more dramatic pour? might be cool, who knows! at any rate, i am very surprised this shot didnt rate higher--i think it is a great shot.

the background is too busy for me.

Very nice job. I like the size of the photo and how it accents the pouring of the Soy. Colors and lighting good as well.

Good composition and great colours. Perfect focus and the background is just right. It would have been nice to see where the milk comes from, just a little up in the left corner. Anyway a very good job that get high score from me.

That looks sooooo yummy. The colour, clarity and dof are brilliant. I also like the framing in which you chose. Great job and GL. 9:)

good idea, never thought of using soy milk with coffee. I would show the tip of the container in the upper left corner with the glass in the same position in the botoom right corner

Nice framing. The background is a bit too busy (maybe use less depth of field if possible), but I like the shot as a whole. Jacko. 9.

I think this image would be improved by losing the condensation on the glass (wipe it off, or heat the glass before putting the coffee in it)

I like the depth of field that you have used on this, and the vertical framing works well too.

Good shot, Ilike the background and you have used DOF very well.

A lovely image, it makes me want caffeine now! I like the way the (soy) milk lands and mixes in with the coffee. A clever shot, and I haven't seen anybody else do it either, so it's original :) The background really suits the photograph, and the composition is superb. Well done! Good luck in the challenge :) -Annida
