I had the pleasure of using a Fuji FinePix this weekend. I have been wanting to try this for months, black and white shots of trains. My youngest son has been terrified of them, ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED OF THEM. So terried, that he has been diagnosed with Anxiety when it comes to certain fears that he has. At the same time, he is obsessed with trains. He is fascinated watching them pass by.

This adventure to the train station allowed him to meet his fears head on. It was a great feat just to get him to step foot on the tracks. This picture will mean little to anyone but me, but to me, it defines my son. He has so much courage and determination, and yet is held back by something he has no control over.

He has Tuberous Sclerosis and the anxiety is probably a casualty of having this disorder. He explores with such intensity and he sees things that others would not otherwise take notice. He is my muse in life.

I'm new to this Finepix and did not get the software to read the files, but I probably shot this at 125/13 in black and white mode. Cropped the picture some, adjusted contrast slightly. This image is not too far off of the original.

LUV2PHOTO...I'm glad your son was able to do this and maybe minimize his fears. It really is a nice photo that can only be truly appreciated by someone in that type of situation. You mentioned that he sees things that other would not otherwise take notice of...have you tried seeing how he does BEHIND the camera? He very well may show us all something to learn from. Just an idea, good luck.

If I may suggest, a lower viewpoint and more of Matthew ie. closer.

Parent - More concerned with winning a challenge than safety of child. ;-)

I guess the train wasn't moving, but it still make me shudder seeing Matthew standing there.
