Taken from inside one of the astonishing abandoned hotels in the resort of Kupari, built for high-ranking Yugoslav officials and their families in the 1960s, then torn apart in 1991 during the Croatian War of Independence. Kupari is barely inhabited now, just a stunning long stretch of beach, turquoise waters, and these old concrete skeletons. There are no fences; no warning signs. You can just walk right in, your feet crunching on the thick layer of broken glass and dust that obscures the marble floors. Every boat going in and out of the beautiful resorts of Mlini and Srebreno glides past these grim monuments, a stark reminder of the brutal conflict that raged here only twenty years ago, claiming the lives of twenty thousand people. What an incredible experience it was to be able to see it in person. I'll upload my best photos on here soon.

The feel is reminiscent of old film- dead stillness, and the light is excellent.

I really like this shot. Some of the darker space off to the left (not all) probably needs a bit of cropping. The lighting and mood of the shot is fantastic, it makes me want to see the scene out of the windows.
