So I spent nearly every day this challenge was open working on this image. I had thoughts of candy right away. Since M&Ms don't come in white, I initially tried using gum. My first 200 pieces turned out to have a green tint - not helpful. My next 200 didn't line up quite right with the M&Ms so I had trouble getting it all to get together nicely. My third try at gum - with a skinnier gum - still no better.

But I did make our IT guy's day when I told him he could have the whole pack that was in my candy jar because I have like 12 more packs..

Finally I remembered that the grocery store in the town where I work had single-colored M&Ms. Looked. Gone. Then remembered party store. Nope, but that gal told me that the grocery store had just moved the M&Ms from candy section to card section. Huh? But indeed they had, so white M&Ms finally made my piece complete. (Well after another three days of shooting to get the light and shadows acceptable.)

But I'm pretty excited that I pulled it off.

What a journey! Congrats on the final product. I remember what I used to go through for my still life challenge pics. It's always an adventure.

Edible art! If they candy like this in the 1800s, I'm sure Mondrian would have done something similar as a child. I believe you captured the intent of the competition here very well.
