Sometimes the simplest ideas turn out to be so complex in accomplishing. The concept started with the book basically laying on a sheet of green decorative paper. I used a rubber stamp to mark "Once Upon A Time..." onto the paper. Two metal pieces placed together made the ornate lock which I taped and using tiny brads, inserted into pages to keep it in place. I placed a black piece of paper behind the keyhole so it would look like you could insert the key. Then I placed the studio lights and had to take special care to compose it just right so that the focus remains on the lock, key, book and words. My first attempts were a horizontal composition but it looked too centered and boring. I also found I did not like the green paper. I tried several scrapbook papers until I found one that looked like it was a page from a storybook - only problem with the trial and error, I now have 5 scrapbook papers stamped with the "Once Upon A Time" on them.

Once I found the paper that was a good fit it was back to composition. Turning it vertical had too much space of the book. Tried several things but nothing worked. The final last ditch effort was to see what it looked like with my hand on the book. That was *exactly* what it needed! I took several shots but the last one with my fingers hovering over the book was the best.

Nice composition, but I have to admit that the hand in need of a manicure is a little distracting (to me). Otherwise great shot.
