Taken in HDR- 3 brackets, processed in photomatix blended and then finished in lightroom, This is my main street- Literally- This statue was is dedicated and called a soldiers Monument.. This monument, which was built from 1880 to 1881, was individually listed on the Davenport, IA Register of Historic Properties in 1993.It is topped by a statue of a Union soldier, which faces south towards the Mississippi River in the valley below. He measures eight feet tall. The base for the monument is 17 feet, six inches square, with buttress extensions at the corners. The monument's foundation are at least seven feet in the ground and is composed of Nauvoo stone and it rests on a cement floor. This is on of my most favorite historical parts of my old town but very rarely traveled on.

There are four panels with inscriptions on each side of the monument. The south panel reads: "Erected by Grateful Citizens of Scott County In Memory of the Fellow Citizens who Died in Defense of the Union 1861-5". The west panel bears a quote from General H. W. Halleck: "Proved themselves the Bravest of the Brave". The panel on the north bears a quote taken from Lincoln's Gettysburg Address: "They died, that the government of the People, by the People and for the People might not perish from the Earth." The east panel's quote is from Inspector General W. E. Strong: "An Honor to their Friends at Home, to their State and their Country * a Terror to their Foes." This is one of my favorite historical places in my home town.. right down on Main Street.

Thank you for the comments on these! So much appreciated so I can improve on my next time :-))

I agree with the comments made and it is a learning thing for me, so any detailed criticism good or bad is very warmly welcomed by me because it helps me look at things with a more detailed eye on things.
Also helps me with the post editing knowing what to crop or not

I appreciate it

I like this shot (gave you 7). I sort of agree about the car on the left being a bit distracting, but often you can't help what gets in your way. I really love the atmospheric mood.

Looks like you were in your car while taking this--the car(s) on left are a bit distracting.
