I know this entry cannot compete with the clouds most of the rest of the world gets to experience. Blessed with glorious weather most of the year, Angelenos usually have nothing but empty, boring, blue skies, and are thus doomed when these sorts of challenges are announced. So I was delighted to see a cloud appeared in the sky yesterday. I grabbed my camera and headed for Hollywood Forever, a cemetery of which I'm particularly fond. They have a gorgeous lake, which was my intended target, where reflected clouds would just be grand.

Sadly, by the time I got there, the clouds had mostly dissipated, leaving nothing but 2 little puffy clouds which simply weren't enough to quality as the main subject of the image. As I sat on the grass, with my legs extended in front of me, a couple of inquisitive ducks waddled up to me, in search of treats. Proffering non, one of them walked up to my foot and started nibbling on my ankle, a surprisingly painful experience.

But except for some fun shots of swans and ducks swimming about (and nibbling at me) I returned home empty-handed, cloud-wise.

When I awakened this morning, behold: more clouds! Again I raced over to the cemetery, and this time there were clouds everywhere. I headed back to my spot by the lake and plopped myself down. Within minutes, I had battalions of ducks, swans, Canadian geese, some sort of tiny waterfowl, and Koi, heading straight for me. Then these itty bitty turtle heads popped out of the water at my feet. The geese got up on the grass and were literally a couple of feet from me. We eyed each other warily, and I guess as I came bearing no food, they lost interest in me. Within a couple of minutes, so did the rest of the invading army. And by the time I got home a few hours later, so had the clouds.

Of course, the image I chose does not include the lake I had gone there to shoot! And I imagine this image is going to bomb like most of my recent images. But I had such a lovely time, that it doesn't matter.

I know this is a cemetery, but it looks like Alice in Wonderland. I love this!

Thank you for the great story! You wrote it so well, I keep smiling imagining all this. :-)
I agree, thanks to DPC we experience things that might never had happened with us otherwise.
And your submission is absolutely gorgeous!
