Literally.

The horse people here will know that in a real-life situation, to make life fair for the horse, the larger person rides in the saddle which is immediately behind the strongest part of a horse's back, the shoulders, and the smaller person rides behind, basically on the horse's kidneys. Had this been an actual shot poor ol Moondy would have her head lifted and ears flattened in protest!

But this is DPC...so here goes!

There are precious few images of me as child, let alone full-length ones. Original pic is me on a strawberry roan mare named Moondy at Gray Rocks near Mont Tremblant. She was just a trail horse, and I only rode her the one time, but being only 11 or so at the time, I instantly fell in love with her :-) I'm sure she's long gone now, but I sometimes wonder what her life was like.

Took the pic of me as a jaded 47-yr-old sitting on a white dropsheet covering my saddle, which was sitting on a sawhorse positioned to approximate the slight 3/4 angle at which Moondy is standing.

THEN the fun began!!!

pp: On the pic of me as a kid, very little apart from my usual brightness/contrast, vibrance/saturation as there was so little to work from. I had to rebuild a good 1/4 or so of Moondy's face (sorry girl), and replace the top of my head and put in some more background with lots of cloning and imaginative reconstruction.

The pp on cranky ol me is another story altogether. Had to do basic brightness/contrast, vibrance/saturation...then extract and refine edge, dodge and burn, erase, smart sharpen, add noise, and blur, colour filters to try to match the slightly jaundiced skin tones (cheap Kodak film anyone?) and then of course place the image and refine it until I just can't look at it anymore!!! :-)

Very well done. My granddaughter is into horses big time. She's 12 and we are trying to get everything ready to get one of her own.
