 I've been developing color film in my basement since my neighborhood Target pulled their wet lab. I started making color prints when I got fed up with scanning film. Last October, just in time for the fall colors, I acquired some second hand Kodak Ektachrome slide film. Not knowing its age or how it was stored, it seemed a good candidate to experiment with cross-processing...

What I ended up with was a richly saturated negative with insane contrast -- so much so that I often had to resort to darkroom dodging and burning to tame things. This is fun stuff! I got so carried away that I made twenty or so prints and ran out of chemicals.

All of the photos in this essay were scans of the 6x9 prints I made from that roll of film. No digital post-processing was applied; they were scanned, resized and uploaded.

(And in case anyone's wondering, I usually grab lunch on the way back to the office.)
