No Aurora Borealis, yet. I am back home at 3 am. May still happen in the next hour or two, but snow blowing around the mountain ranges. Yet, crystal clear overhead. The moon set, below, was dramatic in West Horseshoe Park at 12:51 am 01/09/14. Canon 5Dmk3, Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, f/4, 10s, ISO 3200, lens focal length 24mm.
High ISO to keep shutter speed at 10s. The stars are points of light. The clouds didn't move too much. The camera is able to capture the image without generating excssive electronic noise. |

The mountains really lead your eyes to the great lighting in the clouds. |

Great sky! I tried too, took my son out two of the nights with no luck. Looks like it would have been a good spot. |

Oh my, I hate to think how noisy mine would have been. The still of the night. Lovely. |

Theoretically, we had the Aurora here. But only in theory, since it was so cloudy that we would have had to drive 4-5 hours to see it.
Your sky is fabulous. I wish there was a bit more to see on the ground, but that would be difficult, given the state of the moon, I suppose. |

Impressive! Saw this on your FB page, too. My camera generates all sorts of excessive electronic noise... I just pretend it's more stars... :-) |

Beautiful sky. Wonder if you saw any color later. |
