I didn't want to take a boring picture of food, so I started thinking of what a feast would be to different people in different situations. How we gorge ourselves (nothing wrong with that) on Thanksgiving, but others get by with very little that they might find.

There is no way I could take this photo for real. I'm not a journalist so I couldn't capture this moment without intervening and buying a person in this state a real, full meal.

That said, this is me posing for the shot. I truly dug in the trashcan for the last cat food tin my wife had opened and then cleaned it really well. I cannot stand to even touc the stuff when I feed our cats, I'm sucha wuss. I rinsed the can and the lid, then pulled out an old White Sox ball cap, put on a jacket and a coat and cut the fingers off some old work gloves. I forgot to dirty my hands, but I guess my ruddy complexion came out in the processing as dirt...

Set was part of my unfinished basement. My son moved back home and like many got boxes from a liquor store. I stacked two of those next to me, but they didn't come out much in the shot.

Like the image, had the photo, because the focus was off. I used a small aperture for more depth of field, but misjudged the front focus and I ended up in the front blur. But I still entered it.

Started poorly with a 4.6667, but gain over a point. Will see how we do.

Halfway point right now...

49 votes, 5.7959.

Was as high as a 6.1 but I think the processing and a couple of other "poverty/hunger" shots kept it from being original.

Less than 24 hours to go...

5.9296. Nice climb. Starting to stupidly think it might be enough to ribbon? Not a lot of score chatter... would be a shocker for sure to have two on the front page at the same time.

Of course a 5th would be nice, then I'd have done 1-5... Then I'd only need a brown. :)

Linda, thank you so much for your kind words. It means more to me than any ribbon or top 5 that my photo touched someone so deeply. An honor.

For me, it was the processing that kept it from my upper tiers of votes.
Pushed this down to a seven instead.

Was really hoping this would finish higher, had four shots ahead of yours, and only Minso's finished higher.

great shot and I understand the roughness of the pressing processing, nevertheless I find it much too strong.

Amazing picture. Shows how lucky we are to have what we have. One of my top 2.

I'm not 100% sure I like the processing, but a decent image otherwise.
