 I was standing above a meandering waterway that cuts through a marsh near Wellfleet, with images of "S" curves in mind when this patch of bright red in the distance caught my eye. I was having a hard time keeping the camera steady where I was and subsequently found the wind gusts were over 60mph. So I shot a few S curves and headed to this rather more sheltered area for a couple of possible foliage shots before heading home.

I love the reds of the sumac leaves in the Fall. The color splotches and texture differences in this shot are great.

Now if I tried to shoot and edit something like this, it would be busy and unkempt and completely confusing. This, however, is as though the artist simply put the brush exactly where he wanted, and created this view.
