This guy was wandering through the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park. He was unnoticed by most of the visitors. I had my camera out... and then prayed he'd stay calm. By the way, for Australians (who don't have any, and city folk who may never have met one) this is a skunk. When annoyed or frightened, he or she raises his tail and lets loose with an odor that absolutely nobody likes.

When an Australian friend was visiting, she wanted to smell a skunk as she had never done that. Un/fortunately, we never discovered one while she was here.

I think most Australians know about skunks, if only from Looney Toons.
However, I doubt that many of us have experienced the "parfume".
