Dogs do really love chasing and barking at postmen. Such scene is often seen in movies or cartoons, but it really happens all the time in real life. In France, when someone gets bitten by a dog, the law says that a rabies analysis must be conducted. My wife being a vet, she regularly performs such tests, and half of the time, the bitten victim is a postman.

From there, I decided to pay a little homage to that profession, by creating this stamp involving a very dangerous dog, Cerberus himself! I must confess the actual model is far from being ferocious. In fact, the poor thing was quite ill, and being taken care of by my wife at her work's place. Since we don't have a dog, I decided to pay them a little visit and snap some photos. The dog was very calm and peaceful, and making him look threatening was a challenge: 13 photos of the animal were used for that. I shot everything else in my house (fire, postman, mail, stamp) or around it (mailbox, sky).

I enjoyed creating this stamp, and I hope some postmen out there will find it funny! Thanks for all the positive feedback, it is much appreciated.

That's a hell of an image, Christophe :-) When I was a child I used to have Cerberus nightmares, and you've revived them, probably... Congratulations on your ribbon, and as always thanks for the detailed description.

Postmen always come to the house, but never enter it. Apparently they are not welcome and that's the reason why dogs chase them and bark at them (so I'm told). And you show that in a great way here. Congrats on the Red.

No wonder these postal employees "go postal". I'd be a little off too if that beasty was chasing me. My only critique ... doggy nails are cut flat and not sharp and menacing. But i guess if he spends his days chasing postal workers they may get worm down a bit. ;)
