 This is one of those pictures that will probably not score that high, but I really like it. It was taken fom one of a dozen roses which I recently sent to the love of my life, my wife Sandy, on the occasion of our 20th wedding anniversary. I think the picture as an image stands up as well as any shot I have taken. The symbolism, however, far exceeds any other shot I have taken to date.

Not much was done to the image, some correction of flaws in the pedals were fixed with the cloning tool. USM,minor cropping thats about it

The underlying meaning of this shot will likely be lost on the voting DPC public, I guess we will have to wait and see.

I certaily agree that it fits the challenge - a lot of nature subjecta are indeed complex. The background is very bothersome for me due to the bight colors.

a rose is a very complex part of nature and you have captured it in a very lovely way...IMO i would have a bit more focus and more light to bring out the depth and intensity of the various range of the colour

I like how your use of DOF draws the eye to the intricate layering of petals, emphasizing the complexity of your subject. Nice shot!
