(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Well composed. The strong diagonal line of the flame really draws the eye to the wick of the candle and that becomes the subject. I am not sure that the wick should have been so centrally located in the frame, but that is not a big distraction for me. I love the way it curves and bends.

(2) BACKGROUND The background is so uniformly lit as to become almost non-existant. This makes the subject stand out even more than it normally would. Very nice.

(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure is good. Composition is good.

(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL The red border disturbs me quite a little bit. The photo itself is done in greyscale, there is no reason to have such a brightly colored border. Because of its vividness, it distracts from the image instead of complimenting it.

(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge. Of all the "Candle in the Wind" entries, this is my favorite.

(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very nice photograph, but not terribly exciting

sweet macro shot, am kind of embarrassed to say it, but those drops of wax kinda remind me of a woman's bosom.

The red border is NOT a good idea.

quality macro

Wow, nice close up. I don't get the use of a red border, but I like the shot. Jacko 9

Wow. The wax drips look like two breasts, (marllyn Monroe!)

the red border takes away from the grayscale image.

The red border is a mistake. The border should pick out a colour in the photo.

The photo is very good, but the border is completely distracting

Why the red border? It ruins an otherwise good photo.

Nice photo, but didn't need the red boarder (I find it very distracting). Also would be interesting to see what it looked like in color. 7 =-)

The border really kills it for me. Pretty good macro of a candle, however.

I don't understand the reasoning behind a grayscale photo, and then a bright red border. It really takes away from the photo. The photo itself is reasonably good however.

looks like a pair of tits on the candle and not to sure about the red frame but overall not bad. 6

The 16-year-old in me wants to point out that this candle appears to have grown breasts :) On a serious note, I like this shot a lot, although I don't know if I like the red border so much.

Cool picture, great flame, cool wick, but your border really doesn't fit, IMO.

Of all the candle in the winds I think this one is the best. Great detail. And sometimes with candles I know you can be at the mercy of the flame as far as comp. goes. Nice job. Sigmund Freud is turning in his grave right now but the wax dribbles kind of resmble breasts. Is there something wrong with me?
