Good pose, good emotion.

Without a doubt this is an excellent photo. It only lacks for me that something special I was looking for in a Master of masters challenge. When I look at my Bald Eagle shots I could only hope to achieve one like this! Very well done.

Well this is as complete as it can be and the quality is certainly and truly in the masters' category. The detail is crystal clear. The texture most convincing and the post processing immaculate. The dof is well employed creating the perfect sudued background for such a proud study. This has a Jacko feel. Bumping up to 8

good sharpness and "pose"; I'm distracted by the color of the background ye I know that's the natural color; I wonder if a selective desaturation would tone it done some? Exellent shot anyway.

great focus throughout the shot! from feathers to beak- you have made the most of a bird portrait adn the eagle really takes on a proud, predatory feeling. nice.

Normally I don't really like centered photographs for creative content such as DPC challenges but this one works very well. The background is well muted and not distracting. Details are superb and very clear. Excellent photo! My only complaint is the border. Such a magnificent bird almost plays second fiddle to a thick border. I would have preferred a thinner border if any at all. 9

Very nice. If this image were any sharper, it would have scratched my monitor.

Majestic bird. The background seems a little pixelated, though that may be a function of resizing to 640. Good shot.

I wish the bird could look more directly into the camera. I know, it's hard to convince it :) Terrific detail. Just my personal wish to look straight into it's eyes.

Terrific detail, DOF and color, though I feel this subject with this pose and attitude is a bit hackneyed. A technical marvel that lacks a new view. 8

I had originally given you a 6. I bumped it to a 7 because I started to ask myself, "Could I capture this?". Probably not. Actually, definitely not. It's sharp, well composed and contains a subject that is quite elusive. I think you did a great job and I congratulate you.

Great detail on the feathers & face. The mottled background is a great foil for the majesty of the ealge.

What a majestic stuy. The green really acents the image. Great crop, just enough brown.

great detail on this expressive subject, like the contrast of focus forground to backround.

This is a wondeful photo. For nits, I might pick the dirty feather, a somewhat too bright background, and a few of the feathers on top of the bird's head seem a bit out of focus. Did you get this shot in the wild, or is this a captive bird?

This is beautiful. Where I live, you could never ever see an eagle. I'm so impressed with how close up you were able to get. 9

A perfect "Documentary" shot, and the eagle is always nice to see. No particularly long time interest though. 7

Strong Points: The superb Dof on the bird along with the nice soft background make this an exceptional image. Exposure is right on, including the white feathers - plenty of detail in the white. Suggestions for improvement: A catchlight in the eye would really add more wow to a great image. The white border is ok, but I'd like it better at about 1/2 the size - or even less.

Yes they are a proud bird, so stern looking, so regal! And to think we almost had the turkey for our national bird? LOL! I love eagle shots and this one is no exception. It's well done, centered, overall composition, just lacking a real pop factor, maybe a bit more contrast to bring out the colors? A 9

Very sharp, crisp, colorful - and wonderful that there's no distractions in the background. Indeed, eagles have such composure and fierceness. Excellent shot, thank you!

It will be interesting to see your notes about this shot. THe bown fethers look a little smooth, but the white ones look seem to have more detail. All in, a nice portrait.

Magnificent portrait with an outstanding level of detail.
Tough to get the level of detail in the white feathers without blowing out the highlights.
Well Done! ((8))

A nice little photograph of an Eagle's head. The green background isn't very flattering in my opinion, but I know there's not much you can do about that, unless you can drug the bird, run behind it, set up a backdrop, and shoot again.. heh.

Still, it's just another bald eagle for me, but an 8 anyway :)

Really good DOF here, excellent clarity in the bird here, can make out so much detail in the feathers. The eye is the most important thing here, that is in perfect focus! Well done, full marks! 10

Very nice image composition. The background feels somewhat plain, unfortunatly, which in turn, seems to down-tone all the colours of the picture. The usage of a Frame does help with the overall feel of the picture.

wonderful profile of a noble bird. excellent details captured in the feather, beak and eye. highlights are blown out on the top of the head, though.

Crisp, clean, and clear. The top of the head might be a little washed, but the eye and beak are very good.

Unbelievably sharp, and a great subject. You've got one great lens there. The green background is very effective. Perfect exposure... not easy given the range of tones. Not quite sure about your crop though... I'd have thought a little more about rule of thirds here. Still, 10.

My favorite animal and a wonderul photo of him. Focus is excellent. I wonder what it would have looked like a little less centered. The only nit I have is the light coloring behind his head on the left. Great shot.

A beautifully presented portrait that really shows this bird off to it's best. The detail in teh eye is wonderful. The rich green background is just the right colour to show off the brown, white and yellows of the bird and the depth of field blurs it out excellently. 8

Wildlife photography is defined by this picture. It couldn't have been done any better from the clarity of the bird to the complementary backround. This is of Setzler proportions!

10/01/2004 06:35:12 AM
This is a nice shot, but it seems slightly flat. You could try bumping up the contrast a little or dodge/burn it. Also, I think it would be much better in B&W or duotone, because the green in the background doesn't suit the type of bird this is. 6
