Challenge: Stopped Motion II (Advanced Editing II)
Camera: Nikon D70
Location: Friend's farm
Date: Sep 16, 2004
Aperture: F/6.3
ISO: 1000
Shutter: 1/1600
Galleries: Sports, Action
Date Uploaded: Sep 16, 2004

This was shot on my friend's farm. For light we used three halogen lights approximately 1 foot above the gun. The setup shot is in my portfolio but hidden until after the contest. Photoshop was used to remove the yellow cast from the gun caused by the halogen lights. I used unsharpen mask and a little dodging and burning in places. I also used photoshop to change the shell casing from aluminum to brass.

Nice capture. Love the smoke exiting the chamber and the casing. I think I would have liked to have seen more of the hands, but its difficult to say.

you people are crazy.. firing guns all over the place... nice shot though :P (In a double sense :) )

Nice capture - good timing. A bit more smoke would have relly made it zing, but it's still nice as is. Casing is a wee bit soft but not enought to cause any cncern.

Nicely done. Maybe a tad more shutter speed.

Gun control people might not like this (hee, hee), but I think you did a great job!!

Very cool idea and very well executed.

I am curious and hopeful that you have provided some in-depth info on how you pulled this image off. Imagine there were quite a few duds as you shot this.

Sweeeet! A little too much green in this. Should have used Levels, etc., to boost the Blue tones. The pic is a little "warm" right now. You can even see the next round going into the chamber.

Very nice! Like how you can see the smoke.

Good timing to get this. Wonder how many tries. Small amount of motion blur on the slide and less on the cartridge. The smoke adds to the catch as well.

The muted lighting adds to the dynamics of the shot. Great composition too.

Nicely done. Not sure how your subject will be received, but good luck. I think this might have won smoke.

Good stop action with cool lighting. Bumping up.

Wow! I like how I can see the smoke. Good Stopped action.

The slight twinge of smoke is a nice touch. I'm not sure about the crop however. Maybe a little tighter on the bottom, or having the person's left hand out of the shot.

Ok...that's stopped motion...no arguing with a man that hold a gun!!
