I know it's probably not most people's definition of art (at a 5.6 -- it's definitely not most people's definition of art.)

But there was something about this shot from the very beginning. I take a huge number of shots a year. And when I go up to Chincoteague, I can easily fill 40GB of space in a day. (I usually only have a day, and I shoot everything I can. Over and over and over again. I love this place!!)

But this one was an accident. I was trying to pan the egret from far away. This was zoomed in to 400 on my 100-400 lens, and I didn't realize what I had until I got home. I loved the space of red. I loved the depth of field. I loved that they were completely unaware of each other's existence and in their own little worlds. It was such a juxtaposition of color of natures of capabilities of everything. Every time I see it, it's special to me.

I think Deb said it best. It really does feel like a watercolor interrupted by flight. :)
