 essay, part 10:

But sometimes I cheat on my beloved benefactor. I combine, recombine and distort images. I’m sure some layerers are very careful about their process, but mine is as hectic as shooting is. I throw layers on, try different blendings, and see what happens. Throw a boy into a semi-symmetrical field of wildflowers, and he becomes more haunting... a hauntingness that, by the way, was there all along. But I know the terrible price of this game...




original notes:

symmetry is the death of composition. I flipped an image and then blended it with itself on overlay. then I superimposed another photo of a child.

all the quality's at the brown end once again. what you said and what they said, this uses symmetry instead of being used by it

Had to give this a 1 for DNMC. Normally I would -3 but since in this case, the theme was a hard and fast rule totally within the control of the photographer, I'm forced to be a little more harsh.
