I thought this was supposed to be a photography challenge, not an election, or a political poll. I seriously do not believe this photograph deserves any 1s based on its photographic or artistic value. Too bad the DPC community has forgotten its purpose.

Terrific portrait! What an opportunity to get this close to our president. I'd be so nervous that I'd probably leave the lens cap on. I'm embarrassed for anyone who voted 1.

A fine, meaningful portrait. Nicely done - your own piece of history.

8 1's? gee, wonder why? lol; from teabaggers to racists, you have to expect this. and dont forget those of us that deplore his drone killings and continuation of cheneybush abuse of power and war mongering. but 8 1's on such a terrific image? really? says a great deal about usa as a failing empire.

This is a new comment series for me, so please bear with me while I find my style!

This is one of my 8s - I like it quite a bit. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. Way to go for taking the opportunity to grab such a portrait - it's an interesting moment and conveys much.

2. In many ways, as a portrait without the wider context, this wouldn't cut the mustard but WITH the context it is unusually close and very intimate. That gives the image a lot of power.

3. Your title is a good one and lends a good steer to the image. Normally, I don't like to be so led - but here, it's a good choice.

Overall, an important image.
